Every year hundreds of university & college students from across the country come to JFI to explore their Jewish heritage.
Jewish Fellowships is an immersive educational Jewish values experience that provides a context for making choices and taking action. Students consider and express Jewish values through discussion groups, Seminars and hands on experiences. You will explore a living model of a thriving, inspired, Jewish community, grounded in vibrant spiritual life and social responsibility. All while enjoying all of New York’s exciting tourist attractions!
No formal Jewish educational background is necessary.
Jewish Fellowships is hosted year-round in Lawrence, New York. Your stay will typically include room, board and meals.
Rabbi Elisha Finman
Founder & Director
Rabbi Elisha Finman holds numerous smichas from Rav Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg Chief Justice of the Rabbinical High Court in Jerusalem, Rav Betzalel Rudinsky Yeshivas Ohr Reuven, and Beis Medrash LTalmud. He holds a BA in Education from Touro College and is currently pursuing an MA in Administration from Hofstra University. Previously, Rabbi Finman was the College Outreach Director at Ohr Somayach in Monsey, NY, where he built a dynamic model for collegiate outreach that changed the lives of hundreds of Jewish students. His wife, Bracha, holds a BA in Judaic Studies from Stern College and an MS in Occupational Therapy from Kean University and works as an Occupational Therapist. They live with their adorable three sons in Far Rockaway, NY
Rabbi Dov Snow
Rabbi Dov Snow M.A. PhD (candidate) has been at the forefront of Kiruv for the last 10 years. As the former Director of Education for New York NCSY Rabbi Snow brings an eclectic skill set to JFI. Rabbi Snow built the highly successful “Deep Fried Torah” and “Burn and Learn” programs attended by hundreds of teens weekly. Rabbi Snow has lectured nationally on Judaic and psychological topics. Rabbi Snow is currently in his final year of a PhD. in clinical psychology. His wife, Amy holds a BA in psychology from Touro College and is the former Assistant Regional Director for New England NCSY. They are currently living in Far Rockaway, NY.
Rabbi Dr. Dov Finman
Director of Education
Dr. Dov Finman is our Director of Education and has served as a member of the faculty at Adelphi University, the Colorado School of Professional Psychology, the American School of Professional Psychology, and Touro College. In addition to instructing graduate and undergraduate courses, Dr. Finman has developed graduate level courses for Touro College. Dr. Finman also holds semicha, yoreh yoreh, from Rav Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg Chief Justice of the Rabbinical High Court in Jerusalem, and served as a member of the Phoeinix Community Kollel.
Michael Oberstein is an innovative problem solver in both finance and management. Mr. Oberstein holds an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and a B.A. from City College, City University of New York. Mr. Oberstein’s experience includes being the CEO of a $350 million investment bank, Wharton Income Group, as well as, being the executive director and chair of the finance department at NYU, one of America’s leading universities.

Tani hails from Des Moines Iowa, where he was raised amongst the cornstalks. Through his long journeys in life Tani explored his universe and ultimately attended Yeshiva in the mystical city of Sefad, Israel for a couple of years. Currently Tani enjoys being the strongest (literally) link in the Jewish Fellowships team, making sure that everything runs smoothly throughout the programs!
